This road runs from Arana down to Orus, where it splits. The higher road goes to Byzantir and Engul and the lower road goes to Mercarias.

This road goes through the Jalon deser, up to the river Tynia, then to Arana. This was the trade route for the abandoned mines in the Ierod Mountains. The path is now treacherous because the army never had patrols. Once it was filled with inns and small villages. Now all that remains are abandoned buildings along the way.

These mountains marked the border between Indir and Escar. Throughout most of the year the tips of these mountains are covered in a thick blanket of snow and are hidden by low hanging clouds. Few people venture beyond these mountains to the dark lands without good reason. Tales of monstrous beasts lurking in the woodlands have been a deterrent for years, but since the war ended humans have begun exploring the outskirts of this land.

There are only two passes through the mountain range. The first is the Northern Pass, which is heavily guarded by the soldiers of Arana; the second is the old mine. This path is treacherous. In order to get to the mine from Escar, the old trade route must be used. The mine has become unstable in its years of disuse. Then into Indir, the traveller has to pass through the dark forest.

These mountains are at the bottom of Escar and provide a natural barrier between Escar and the unknown lands beyond. These mountains are where both Mercarias and Engul have been built. Underneath them, a variety of mines have been built to mine precious gems.

The Jalon desert is just to the North East of Byzantir and take approximately three days to ride through along the old trade route. It is hot and dangerous. Only the most desperate travellers go through these parts.
